  • A Child's Place: Reaching out to homeless children

    A Child's Place ensures homeless children in the CMS system have an as normal as possible school experience, while experiencing the trials of homelessness. Homeless children are provided with stable, appropriate education in a mainstream setting through A Child's Place. Comprehensive and timely assessments ensure that students receive the instruction and services they need. For the homeless students who are in need of extra support in order to achieve academic success, food, clothing, personal hygiene products and school supplies are distributed.

  • Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools: Elementary School Focus

    The mission is to facilitate a long-term relationship with the schools in challenged neighborhoods to begin the geographical focus of impact in our city. Many basic needs are not met for the students in the identified schools, which impacts their ability to learn.

  • Down Syndrome Association of the Carolinas

    The Down Syndrome Association of Charlotte (DSAC) was formed in 1986 by a group of parents who understood the importance of supporting families who experience the birth of a child with Down syndrome. DSAC continues to be a parent-lead organization seeking to be the premier resource on Down syndrome in the greater Charlotte area. The mission of the Down Syndrome Association of Charlotte is to enhance the quality of life for all individuals with Down syndrome by providing information and support to families, professionals and the community. Its vision is to enable individuals with Down syndrome to reach their full potential and become respected members of their communities.

  • Jackson Park: Helping those in need from our community

    Jackson Park is a Christian ministry providing financial, housing, and crisis assistance to families with children. They provide on site, temporary housing and financial accountability counseling. The vision of Jackson Park Ministries is to see the families, children and all individuals of Jackson Park, Charlotte and surrounding communities come to know Christ as their Savior and Lord; becoming productive citizens in the community and serving others as a disciple of Christ.

  • Right Moves for Youth: Success in school, success in life

    Right Moves for Youth is a local organization working to reduce the occurrence of student dropouts in Mecklenburg County. Our mission is to provide the motivation and resources for our students in grades 4-12 to succeed in school, improve their quality of life and become responsible members of society. Right Moves for Youth collaborates with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, local law enforcement agencies and other community partners to help students improve their school attendance, behavior and academic performance.

  • Safe Journey: Helping teen mothers graduate and succeed in life

    A division of Communities in Schools, Safe Journey is a program that supports teen mothers with their completion of high school while teaching parenting programs to minimize abuse and neglect. The program strengthens their connections with their children, families, and community. Safe Journey is set up to lead participants to self-sufficiency and success. Each year there is a volunteer orientation in August.

    Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ.   • Seigle Avenue Freedom Schools: Building hope in the lives of children & their families

    Seigle Avenue Partners is providing opportunities when school in not in session, particularly addressing summer learning loss through nine Freedom Schools serving 500 children. The program provides a safe haven with caring adult supervision and instruction for neighborhood children during critical after-school and summer hours. Seigle promotes academic success through classroom work, tutoring and mentoring, and by encouraging the active participation of parents.

  • Urban Ministries Center: Serving those that face homelessness & poverty

    The Urban Ministries Center works to meet the basic needs of those in our community through shelter, food, employment assistance, and therapeutic services. In addition to our basic services, The Urban Ministry Center also offers innovative special programs to address the challenges of homelessness and poverty. These engage everyone in the community, building on individual and shared strengths and breaking down barriers.

  • Wish Program: Empowering working poor families from homelessness to self-sufficiency

    The WISH Program is a faith-led permanent supportive housing solution whereby selected families are given a defined set of “steps” which can empower them from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Highly-screened working families selected for WISH receive intensive life-skills support from social workers, a connection to local faith groups (through volunteers called Hope Teams,) a monthly rent subsidy for an affordable apartment, transportation assistance, etc.

  • Youth Homes Inc.: Supportive human services

    Youth Homes Inc. is a nationally COA-accredited, private nonprofit agency that has been providing supportive human services to children and families in Charlotte/Mecklenburg County since 1975. Professional social workers empower children and families with skills that allow them to break the cycle of poverty, abuse and family violence; find a meaningful niche in the community; and achieve economic self-sufficiency and independence.
