April Overview: It’s great to have friends — and Jesus is the best friend we could ever have! He never leaves us, knows what’s best for us, and will always love us.

As a family, read “Martha and Mary” (Luke 10:38-42) together. Then, watch this week’s lesson video on the eKidz Online YouTube page to continue the conversation.

Bible Story: Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38-42)
Main Point: Jesus is a friend who knows what’s best for us.
Memory Verse: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13

This week, kids heard about two sisters, Martha and Mary. Martha was busy doing many things, while Mary chose to sit and listen to Jesus. When Martha got upset, Jesus gently helped her understand what mattered most. This story reminds us Jesus knows so much more than we do. He knows what’s best for us, even when we feel distracted, worried, or unsure. And because He is a good friend, we can trust Him.

💬 Family discussion questions:

  1. What were Martha and Mary each doing?

  2. Why do you think Jesus said Mary made the better choice?

  3. Jesus is the best friend ever! What are some ways we can listen to Him and trust what He says is best?

🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:

  • When You Get Up: Tell your kid, “Jesus knows what’s best for you today — you can trust Him.”

  • While You’re At Home: Ask, “What are some ways Jesus helps guide us?”

  • As You’re On The Way: Talk about a time when Jesus showed you what was best for you. (e.g., He helped you make a wise decision, He encouraged you to do the right thing, etc.)

  • When You Lie Down: Pray, “Jesus, thank You for being a friend who knows what’s best for us. Help us listen to You and trust You.”
