April Overview: It’s great to have friends — and Jesus is the best friend we could ever have! He never leaves us, knows what’s best for us, and will always love us.

As a family, read “Jesus Eats with Sinners” (Luke 5:27-32) together. Then, watch this week’s lesson video on the eKidz Online YouTube page to continue the conversation.

Bible Story: Jesus Eats with Sinners (Luke 5:27-32)
Main Point: Jesus is a friend who will always love us.
Memory Verse: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13

This week, kids learned Jesus spent time with people others avoided. While some people didn’t understand why, Jesus showed His love is for everyone. He didn’t choose friends based on popularity or perfection — He chose to love people right where they were. This story helps kids see Jesus will always love us, no matter what we’ve done or how others see us. His love never changes!

💬 Family discussion questions:

  1. Why were some people surprised or upset about who Jesus ate with?

  2. What does this story show us about who Jesus loves?

  3. How does it make you feel to know Jesus will always be your friend and always love you?

🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:

  • When You Get Up: Tell your kid, “Jesus is your friend, and He loves you no matter what — and that will never change!”

  • While You’re At Home: Talk about why Jesus chose to eat with the people in the Bible story.

  • As You’re On The Way: Ask, “Why is it important to remember Jesus is our friend and will always love us?”

  • When You Lie Down: Pray, “Jesus, thank You for loving us no matter what. Help us remember Your love every day and share it with others.”
