What We Are Learning In Elementary :: August Week 3
August Overview: God made us on purpose and for a purpose — to show Him in all we do. As we follow God, His Spirit helps us grow and live differently. This month, kids are discovering they can show God to others through how they act, speak, and treat people every day.
Bible Story: David and Abigail (1 Samuel 25:1-35)
Main Point: I can show God to others when I show peace.
Memory Verse: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)
As a family, read the Bible story together. Then, watch this week’s lesson video on the eKidz Online YouTube page to continue the conversation.
This week, kids learned about a time when David became very angry and was ready to fight. But Abigail stepped in with wisdom and helped David choose peace instead of revenge. David listened, trusted God, and didn't make a decision he would regret. This story teaches us that peace is more than staying calm — it means helping relationships become healthy and whole. When we choose peace instead of making conflict worse, we show others what God is like.
💬 Family discussion questions:

While You’re At Home: Share about a time when God helped you have peace or create peace with someone else.
As You’re On The Way: Ask, "What does it look like to be a peacemaker at school, at home, or with friends?"
When You Lie Down: Pray, "God, thank You for giving us peace. Help us trust You when we're frustrated and choose words and actions that bring peace to others. We love You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen."
