July Overview: Kids will face moments that feel scary, confusing, or hard. This month, they'll discover they don’t have to face those moments alone — God is with them and gives them strength in hard moments. Through stories of Gideon, David, Moses, and Hagar, kids will learn trusting God isn’t just about how we feel — it’s about what we do. Because God is with them and gives them strength, they can trust Him and take the next step, even when they feel afraid, sad, stuck, or alone.

Bible Story: God Is With Gideon (Judges 6-7)
Main Point: When I’m afraid, I can trust God and take a step.
Memory Verse: “The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NIV)

As a family, read the Bible story together. Then, watch this week’s lesson video on the eKidz Online YouTube page to continue the conversation.

This week, kids learned about Gideon, who felt afraid when God asked him to lead an army into battle. Gideon didn’t think he was strong enough, but God reminded Gideon He would be with him and give him strength. Gideon’s story shows us that trusting God when we’re afraid doesn’t mean waiting until we feel brave. It means choosing to take the next step because we know God is with us.

💬 Family discussion questions:

  1. Why was Gideon afraid when God asked him to lead the army?

  2. How did God remind Gideon that He would help him?

  3. What’s a next step you can take, even if it feels a little scary?

🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:

  • When You Get Up: Tell your kid, “God is with you today, so you can always take the next step — even if it feels scary.”

  • While You’re At Home: Share about a time God helped you do something you were afraid to do.

  • As You’re On The Way: Ask, “What’s something that feels scary right now? What could be your next step?”

  • When You Lie Down: Pray, “God, thank You for always being with us. Help us trust You when we feel afraid, and give us the strength to take the next step. We love You. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.”
