What We Are Learning In Elementary :: May Week 1
May Overview: Throughout the Bible, we see God’s people showing care for others. Through these stories, kids will discover five different ways they can show care for the people around them.
Bible Story: The Church Prays for Peter (Acts 12:4-8)
Main Point: I can care for others by praying.
Memory Verse: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
As a family, read the Bible story together. Then, watch this week’s lesson video on the eKidz Online YouTube page to continue the conversation.
This week, kids learned praying is a powerful way to care for others. When Peter was in prison, the church prayed and trusted God to take care of him. Sometimes when people we care about are going through something hard, we may feel worried or unsure how to help. This story reminds us prayer is a real way we can care for others and trust God to help them.
💬 Family discussion questions:
What happened to Peter in this story?
How did the church care for Peter?
Who is someone we can pray for this week?
🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:
When You Get Up: Tell your kid, “You can care for others today by praying for them.”
While You’re At Home: Make a list of people your family can pray for this week.
As You’re On The Way: Ask, “Why is praying a way we can care for others?”
When You Lie Down: Pray, “God, thank You that we can talk to You anytime by praying. Help us care for others and pray for them. We love You. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.”
