What We Are Learning In Elementary :: October Week 2
October Overview: God is always good, no matter what is happening in our lives. Because of His goodness and faithful love, we can choose to be thankful in every season. Gratitude isn't just something we say when good things happen. It's a response to who God is. As kids discover God's goodness through each Bible story, they'll learn they can show thankfulness through their words, praise, service, and generosity.
Bible Story: The Songs of Moses and Miriam (Exodus 14-15)
Main Point: Because God is good, I can praise Him.
Memory Verse: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

God’s people were trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army, but God made a way for them to escape. He parted the sea so they could cross on dry ground and rescued them from the Egyptians! Afterward, Moses and Miriam didn’t just celebrate that they were safe. They celebrated God, the One who had rescued them and responded together with praise. Praise helps us turn our attention toward who God is and what He has done. We can praise God through singing, dancing, playing instruments, and other ways that celebrate His goodness. When we remember how good God is, we have plenty of reasons to praise Him!

What is something God has done that makes you want to praise Him?
🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:
When You Get Up: Remind your kid,“God is good, and you can praise Him today for who He is and what He has done!”
While You’re At Home: Choose a worship song your family enjoys, and listen to it together. Before or afterward, have everyone share one reason they have to praise God.
As You’re On The Way: Ask, "What’s something you love about God? How could you praise Him for it?"
When You Lie Down: Pray, “God, You are good! Thank You for who You are and for everything You have done. Help us remember You are always worthy of our praise. We love You. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.”
