What We Are Learning In Elementary :: October Week 3
October Overview:
This month, kids will learn we serve a God who has power — the King of Kings! In a month when the world often focuses on spookiness, kids will discover they don’t have to be afraid because our God is strong and powerful.

Scripture:
1 Kings 18:16-40 (Elijah & the Prophets of Baal)
Focus:
God sent fire from heaven to show He alone is God. Even when others don’t believe, we can trust He’s in control.
Bottom Line:
God is the one true God, and He’s in charge.
Application:
I can trust God’s power in every situation because He is in charge.
In this week’s lesson, kids will learn God’s power is greater than any other. We can trust Him even when people around us don’t.
💬 Family discussion questions:
- What proved that God is the one true God in Elijah’s story?
- When do you find it hard to remember that God is in charge?
- How can trusting God change the way you respond to a tough situation?
🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:
- Morning Time: While your kid is getting ready for the day, remind them: “God is in charge of today.”
- Mealtime: Share one thing that feels out of control to you (could be in your life or in the world). Pray about it together.
- Drive Time: Talk about the leaders we might have in our lives (e.g., coaches, teachers, government, etc.) and how God is over all.
- Bedtime: Pray, “God, thank You for being the one true God in charge.”
