September Overview: God made us on purpose and for a purpose — to show Him in all we do. As we follow God, His Spirit helps us grow and live differently. This month, kids are continuing to learn they can show God to others through how they act, speak, and treat people every day.

Bible Story: David Spares Saul Again (1 Samuel 26:5-25)
Main Point: I can show God to others when I show gentleness.
Memory Verse: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)

As a family, read the Bible story together. Then, watch this week’s lesson video on the eKidz Online YouTube page to continue the conversation.

This week, kids learned about an opportunity David had to hurt Saul. David quietly entered Saul's camp while Saul was sleeping, and one of David's men encouraged him to attack. Instead, David chose to trust God and respond with gentleness and humility. He refused to get even, even though he had the chance. This story reminds us that gentleness isn't weakness. It's about choosing to treat others with care and humility, even when they've been unkind to us. When we respond the way God wants us to instead of reacting out of anger or hurt, we show others what He is like.

💬 Family discussion questions:

  1. What choice did David make instead of hurting Saul?

  2. Why do you think David chose gentleness?

  3. What are some ways you can show gentleness?

🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:

  • When You Get Up: Tell your kid, "Ask God to help you respond with gentleness today, even when it's difficult."

  • While You’re At Home: Talk about a time when someone responded to you with kindness and gentleness instead of anger. How did it make you feel?

  • As You’re On The Way: Ask, "What does it look like to be gentle when someone hurts your feelings or makes you upset?"

  • When You Lie Down: Pray, "God, thank You for always treating us with love and gentleness. Help us choose humility and respond with gentleness so others can see You through our lives. We love You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen."
