What We Are Learning In Preschool :: August Week 2
August Overview: This month, preschoolers will discover that God helps us grow to be more like Him! As they learn about the Fruit of the Spirit, they'll see they can show God to others through the way they live.
Bible Story: 2 Samuel 6:12-19
Main Point: God is JOY! I can show joy.
Memory Verse: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)

This week, children learned how David celebrated God's goodness with singing, dancing, and praising Him. David's joy came from remembering all God had done. God fills our hearts with joy, too! We can show God to others when we celebrate His goodness with thankful hearts and joyful praise.
💬 Family discussion questions:
What happened in the Bible story? (David celebrated God's goodness with singing and dancing.)
Why was David so joyful? (He was thankful for God and all He had done.)
What is one way you can show joy to God today? (e.g., sing, thank Him, smile, praise Him, etc.)
🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:
When You Get Up: Start the day by asking, "What's one thing you're thankful to God for today?" Celebrate each answer together.
While You’re At Home: Turn on a worship song and have a family praise party! Sing, clap, dance, and thank God for His goodness.
As You’re On The Way: Take turns naming things that bring you joy because God gave them to you — family, friends, pets, sunshine, or favorite activities.
When You Lie Down: Before bed, ask, "What made you smile today?" Thank God together for the good gifts He gave your family and for filling your hearts with joy.
