What We Are Learning In Preschool :: August Week 4
August Overview: This month, preschoolers will discover that God helps us grow to be more like Him! As they learn about the Fruit of the Spirit, they'll see they can show God to others through the way they live.
Bible Story: David Waits to Be King (1 Samuel 16:1-23, 1 Samuel 24:1-7, 1 Samuel 26:7-11, 2 Samuel 5:1-4)
Main Point: God is PATIENT! I can show patience.
Memory Verse: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)
As a family, read the Bible story together. Then, watch this week’s lesson video on the eKidz Online YouTube page to continue the conversation.
This week, children learned that David had to wait a long time before he became king. Even while he was waiting, David trusted God and followed Him. God is patient, and He helps us be patient too. We can show God to others by waiting with a good attitude and trusting Him while we wait.
💬 Family discussion questions:
What happened in the Bible story? (David had to wait a long time before he became king.)
Did David keep trusting God while he waited? (Yes!)
What is something you have to wait for, and how can you show patience while you wait?
🕰 Engage in everyday moments together this week:
When You Get Up: Tell your child, "Sometimes we have to wait, but God is always with us while we wait." Ask if there's anything they're looking forward to today.
While You’re At Home: Find a small opportunity to practice waiting together — taking turns during a game, waiting for a snack, or letting someone else go first. Celebrate patient choices by saying, "You showed patience just like God helps us do!"
As You’re On The Way: Talk about times we have to wait, like at a stoplight, in line, or before a fun event. Ask, "What can we do while we wait that shows patience?"
When You Lie Down: Before bed, ask, "When did you have to wait today?" Thank God for helping your child trust Him and show patience, even when waiting feels hard.
