What We Are Learning In Preschool :: December Week 3
Main Point: God gave us Jesus.
Bible Story: The Shepherds ● Luke 2:8–20
As a family, read “The Shepherds” (Luke 2:8–20) from the Bible. CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
What happened in the Bible story? (Shepherds were watching their sheep at night when an angel appeared. The angel told them the good news that Jesus had been born! The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found Jesus.)
After the shepherds saw Jesus, did they tell the good news to everyone or just their friends? (everyone)
This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:
Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! It’s almost Jesus’ birthday, and I’m SO excited!”
Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “God, it’s almost Christmas, which means it’s almost Jesus’ birthday. We can’t wait to celebrate Your Son, Jesus!”
Bath Time: Lead your child in singing “Happy Birthday” during bath time. Add pom-poms as pretend “confetti.”
Drive Time: While you’re driving, look for circles (they remind us of fluffy sheep). Talk about how the shepherds ran to see baby Jesus after the angel told them He had been born.
