Main Point: Jesus tells us what God’s love is like.
Bible Story: The Prodigal Son • Luke 15:11-24
Memory Verse: “Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me.’” Matthew 19:14 (NLT)

As a family, read “The Prodigal Son” (Luke 15:11-24) from the Bible. CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • What happened in the Bible story? (Jesus told a story about a son who made many mistakes, but his father welcomed him home with love.)

  • Jesus told this story to show us that like the father, God always loves us! Does Jesus tell us what God’s love is like? (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

  • When You Get Up: When your child wakes up, say, “Good morning! Remember, God loves you and nothing can change that!”

  • While You’re At Home: Stand in front of a mirror with your child and take turns saying, “God loves (your name).

  • As You’re On The Way: As you ride or walk, say together, “God loves me.” Then remind your child, “No matter where you go or what you do, God’s love never goes away.”

  • When You Lie Down: At bedtime, pray with your child, “Dear God, thank You for loving us no matter what. Please help us always remember how much You love us. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.”
