Main Point: The Bible helps me trust God.
Bible Story: Paul and Silas in Prison ● Acts 16:16-40
Memory Verse: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105 (NIV)

As a family, read “Paul and Silas in Prison” (Acts 16:16-40) from the Bible. CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • Paul and Silas were put in prison. What did they do there? (They were in prison, and they prayed and sang songs to God.)

  • What happened while they were singing? (There was an earthquake, the prison doors opened, and everyone’s chains fell off.)

  • How does the Bible help us when we feel scared or sad? (We can remember what the Bible says — that God is with us and loves us.)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

  • When You Get Up: When your child wakes up, give them a big hug and say, “No matter what happens today, we can trust God. The Bible tells us God is always with us.”

  • While You’re At Home: During a quiet moment at home, practice the memory verse with the motions:

“Your word (open hands like a book)
is a lamp for my feet, (point down toward your feet)
a light (open and close fists like a light)
on my path.” (extend hands forward)
Psalms 119:105

  • As You’re On The Way: As you ride or walk, say, “Paul and Silas were in prison, but they still sang to God!” Clap a simple beat and say, “We can trust God when we eel scared.” Invite your child to clap and say it with you: “I can trust God!”

  • When You Lie Down: At bedtime, ask your child, “Did anything today feel scary or hard?” Listen, then say, “God was with Paul and Silas, and He is with us too. We can trust God.” Pray, “God, thank You for being with us. Help us remember what the Bible says so we can trust You. We love you. In Jesus' name, amen.”
