Bible Story: Daniel’s Friends Pray ● Daniel 2

As a family, read “Daniel’s Friends Pray” (Daniel 2) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE  for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

• What happened in the Bible story? (The king had a dream no one could explain. Daniel asked his three friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, to pray with him. God helped Daniel understand the king’s dream.) 

• Daniel thanked God. Can you thank God for everything? (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation: 

• Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! Before we get up, let’s thank God for our friends. Thank You, God, for (take turns naming friends).”

• Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “God, I will give thanks to You with my whole heart for my friends. Thank You for (name friends).” 

• Bath Time: Tell your child to pick three bath-time “friends” (toys) to play with. As they play, say: “Daniel had three friends who prayed with him when he needed help. We can pray with our friends too!”

• Drive Time: While on the go, ask your child what they like to do with their friends. Talk about how Daniel asked his friends to pray with him, and they did!
