This Week in Preschool :: I can thank God for people who help me.

Main Point: I can thank God for people who help me.
Bible Story: Elisha’s Room ● 2 Kings 4:8–17

As a family, read “Elisha’s Room” (2 Kings 4:8–17) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE  for children’s Bible recommendations.)

After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:

  • What happened in the Bible story? (A woman and her husband saw that Elisha needed a place to stay. They built him a special room so he could rest. They were kind and helped Elisha.)

  • Can you thank God for people who help you? (yes)

This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:

  • Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! Before we get up, let’s thank God for people who help us. Thank You, God, for (take turns naming people who help you).”

  • Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “God, I will give thanks to You with my whole heart for people who help me. Thank You for (name people who help you).”

  • Bath Time: Add bubbles to bath time. Tell your child to scoop a handful of bubbles and say, “I can thank God for (name someone who helps you),” and then blow the bubbles!

  • Drive Time: While on the go, look for people helping others, like teachers, firefighters, or delivery drivers. Talk about how they’re helping and how we can thank God for them.
