What We Are Learning In Preschool :: October Week 4
This Week In Preschool :: God helps me be brave so I can help others.
Main Point: God helps me be brave so I can help others.
Bible Story: Abigail ● 1 Samuel 25:1-35
As a family, read “Abigail” (1 Samuel 25:1-35) from the Bible. (CLICK HERE for children’s Bible recommendations.)
After reading the Bible story, discuss these questions together:
- What happened in the Bible story? (David was angry at Nabal and wanted to fight. Abigail quickly brought food to David and his men. David wasn’t angry anymore and because Abigail helped, many people were kept safe.)
- Abigail was brave and she was able to help others. Can God help you be brave and help others too? (yes)
This week, engage in everyday moments to continue the conversation:
- Morning Time: When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say, “Good morning, (child’s name)! Are you ready to wake up and be a super kid? God can help you be brave and help others too!”
- Cuddle Time: Cuddle with your child and pray, “God, no one can help like You! Please help (child’s name) see people who need help and be brave enough to help them.”
- Bath Time: Add toy food and a basket to bath time. Race to fill the basket before the timer ends. Remind your child how Abigail quickly brought food and helped save many people.
- Drive Time: While on the go, look for people helping others (e.g., a teacher helping kids cross the street, a police officer helping someone, a person picking up trash, etc.). Talk about how they are helping. Then remind your child that sometimes it takes bravery to help others, and God helps us be brave.
