YTH NIGHT (Nov. 19) - At the Table

This week at YTH Night, we explored how Jesus met people where they were — in everyday spaces like meals — and through compassion and presence, He invited them into new life.

One example is Jesus and Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10). When Jesus invited Himself to Zacchaeus’ house, it wasn’t about a fancy meal or the perfect setting. It was about connection. Jesus noticed Zacchaeus, called him by name, and showed that influence starts with compassion and presence.

We took that story and talked about what it means to show up like Jesus did — to slow down, notice others, and make space where people feel seen and valued.

In a season where schedules are full and conversations can feel heavy and divided (especially around a holiday meal), our hope is that our students see that influence isn’t about control — it’s about connection. And when Jesus is at the table, we’re welcoming Him into the conversation and asking Him to guide it — giving Him access to every part of our lives.

Here are a few ways you can help your student live out this week’s message:

  • Read Luke 19:1-10. Can you think of a time someone showed up for you just like Jesus did for Zacchaeus?

  • What’s one small way you could show compassion or notice someone at school or with friends this week?

  • If you try to treat others like Jesus would, how would that change the way you listen and speak to them?
