Sermon Highlights

  • In due season we will reap, if we don’t give up.

  • The chronic urge to quit is a signal that something needs to shift.

  • It’s not what you’re doing for God that wears you out, but what you’re doing for God that He never asked you to do.

  • God will give you strength, wisdom, and time to do your job, not His.

  • You can be on time for all you do (chronos time) but miss the reason God brought you to that moment (kairos time).

  • When you are in a “Don’t Season” and don’t know what to do and don’t have what it takes: Don’t hold too tight, Don’t time travel, and Don’t turn back.

  • I can carry more weight if I adjust my grip.

  • God does stuff on His schedule.

  • When you’re in a “Don’t Season,” keep your eyes on Him.

  • You have to face it, but you don’t have to fight it alone. All you have to do is don’t.

Sermon Discussion

Conversation Starter

  • If you could get a 'hall pass' to not do one thing this week, what would it be and why?

Discussion Questions

  • “When you are in a ‘Don’t Season’ and don’t know what to do and don’t have what it takes: Don’t hold too tight, Don’t time travel, and Don’t turn back.” Which of these resonated with you the most and why?

  • “I can carry more weight if I adjust my grip.” Where have you been holding on too tightly instead of releasing it to God?

Additional Questions

  • “You can be on time for all you do (chronos time) but miss the reason God brought you to that moment (kairos time).” Where can you be more attentive to God's purpose in your life, and what’s one way to work on it this week?

  • “The chronic urge to quit is a signal that something needs to shift.” Where have you felt the urge to quit lately, and what is the shift you need to make?

  • “It’s not what you’re doing for God that wears you out, but what you’re doing for God that He never asked you to do.” What are you carrying that God may not have asked you to?

Prayer Prompt

Ask this question to your eGroup and include it as part of your closing prayer:

Pastor Steven said, "All you have to do is don't... and see the deliverance of the Lord."

Ask your eGroup: What is one area where you are tempted to lean on your own strength, but God might be calling you to simply "don't" and trust He is in control?

Pray that each member of your eGroup will have the discernment to recognize those areas where they need to stop striving and start trusting God's power. Pray for the courage to "take up their positions and stand firm," believing that the Lord will bring deliverance in His time and way.
