Conversation Starters

  • Do you typically leave your house early, late, or right on time?

  • Who taught you to drive? What was that experience like?

Discussion Questions

  1. What’s a recent decision you made that you’re proud of?

  2. Identify a Joseph in your life or someone who has overcome bad experiences. How can their resilience inspire you to get through your own challenges?

  3. Read Genesis 50:20. The painful events in Joseph’s life that God did not prevent, positioned him for a purpose he could not imagine. Identify a painful or difficult event in your life. How did that position you to become a better version of yourself?

  4. Read 1 Peter 5:8. The difference between the enemy attacking and devouring us is what we do with the attack. What do you typically do when you feel attacked?

  5. “Your emotions don’t determine your decisions.” How can you avoid letting your emotions lead your decision making this week? (e.g., pray about decisions before you make them, worship when your emotions feel overwhelming, etc.)

  6. “As long as you rehearse what happened, you can never reverse what happened.” Is there a challenging area in your life where you need to “bend your knees” and surrender to God?

  7. What is a small decision or task that you can choose to serve with excellence that is in front of you in this season of your life?

Act On It

When you bend your knees, it makes room for the future God has for you. Take a moment each day to kneel before God in prayer this week. What can you release to God in these moments? Picture yourself handing that thing to God each day. Let’s release our bitterness and break free from our bondage together this week!

Prayer

Father, thank You for being our bondage breaker. Help us make the best decisions we can this week. We believe you have plans for our future. Give us the wisdom we need to position ourselves to become who You’ve created us to be. Amen.
