Sermon Summary

  • What if where you are right now is exactly where God wants you? He hasn’t overlooked you; He’s set you apart. Learn how to stop comparing your position to someone else’s platform and start embracing the purpose God has for your life.

Sermon Highlights

  • We confuse visibility with significance.

  • God says, “It’s my body, and I set every member in place in my body.”

  • It’s the unseen parts that often hold the whole thing together, and just because you don’t know they’re there doesn’t mean that God doesn’t.

  • So many people have sacrificed their destiny on the altar of a position they wanted because they wouldn’t embrace the place that God had for them.

  • I'm just grateful to be any part of the body of Christ. When was the last time you thanked God?

  • When God is looking to promote you to another position, he goes to a place. He goes to the place that you're supposed to be to find you.

  • You don’t have to market yourself when you’ve been marked by God.

  • If God has assigned you, God will find you.

  • If the light that is on you is greater than the light of Christ that is within you, that light will destroy you.

  • Embrace your place.

  • God opens doors that no man can shut. And God will place you where you need to be. And when God places you, you never have to fear being replaced.

  • It's not even about my place; it’s about the God that sets me in place, and this is His body.

Sermon Discussion

Conversation Starter

  • Christine Caine said she thought skiing would be easy because she could surf. What’s something you tried once that you were way more confident about than you should’ve been?

Discussion Questions

  • “We confuse visibility with significance.” Share a time when you felt overlooked but later realized your role mattered more than you thought.

  • “So many people have sacrificed their destiny on the altar of a position they wanted because they wouldn’t embrace the place that God had for them.” Where might God be asking you to stay planted instead of striving for something else?

Additional Questions

  • “You don’t have to market yourself when you’ve been marked by God.” How can you remind yourself that you’re marked by God when you’re tempted to prove your worth to others?

  • “Embrace your place.” What are some small, practical steps you can take this week to embrace what God has entrusted you with in this season?

Prayer Prompt

Ask your eGroup if they have any prayer requests or praise reports they’d like to share, and include them in your closing prayer.

Pray this prayer over your eGroup to close, and/or send it to them throughout the week to let them know you’re praying for them!

Thank You, Lord, for adopting us into the body of Christ and giving each of us a unique purpose. As we go throughout this week, please help us stay focused on what You’ve called us to do and not compare ourselves to those around us. Help us grow closer to You and each other as we learn to embrace our place and trust Your plan for us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
