What did God reveal to you through this week’s message?
What was your main takeaway from the sermon?
Sermon Discussion
Read Romans 8:14-17. What prayer would you bring to God knowing that “you’re a co-heir with Jesus, not second-best?”
“Part of the human condition is feeling like we’re a little bit less than acceptable — but that’s not from God.” What are some false thoughts that make you feel “less than acceptable” that you want to overcome?
Read Genesis 48:13-14. What does the fact that Jacob blessed the younger son reveal about God’s character and what does this mean for us today?
Share a time when you received a blessing from God that you felt like you didn’t deserve?
It’s often hard to believe that a perfect God accepts and loves us just as we are. On a scale of 1 (completely unsure) to 10 (completely confident), share where you are on your journey of knowing God accepts and loves you.
As co-heirs with Christ, we are: loved, chosen, redeemed, forgiven, set free, and God’s child. Which of these is most meaningful for you right now, and which is difficult for you to accept?
Read Luke 11:5-8. It’s easy to forget that we’re right next to God — we don’t have to beg him to act on our behalf. How will being assured that God is closer than you realize bring you comfort this week?
Activating Faith
Challenge your group to keep activating their faith. Make this a part of your eGroup time or send this activity to them after you meet. When faced with our past and who we perceive ourselves to be, we can struggle feeling like God wouldn’t accept us. But this feeling is not from Him. Lisa reminded us this week of our true standing with God — that we are co-heirs with Jesus!
Take a look at the list below. These are all true things about you! Take some time to pray over this list. Which one do you need reminding of the most right now?
Write that one down and set a reminder to look at it again sometime this week (or put it somewhere you’ll see it often).
I am chosen.
I am forgiven.
I am loved.
I am set-apart.
I am made beautiful.
I am worthy.
I am redeemed.
(and any other truths that come to mind)

A Guided Prayer
Dear God, thank you for adopting me as a co-heir into your family. Thank you for all that is true about me because of what Jesus did on the cross. Help me live out of my full identity as a child of God this week and remind me of your nearness and to lean on you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
