Conversation Starters

  • This Mother’s Day we’re celebrating the women who have supported and believed in us. Name one woman that has blessed your life.

  • One of Holly Furtick’s favorite worship songs is “Waymaker.” What’s your favorite worship song at the moment?

Discussion Questions

1. “You have enough Bible verses to beat the devil every time.” Do you have a favorite or go-to Bible verse?
2. Read 1 Kings 17:14. Share a time when God provided for you after it looked like things wouldn’t work out.
3. “Everything you depend on that is not God will eventually dry up.” What’s something that you turn to in hard times that you might be leaning on more than God? (e.g., social media, people, food, etc.) What can you practically do to rely more on God?
4. “God is good at His job, and in some of our lives, God wants His job back.” Identify some areas in your life where you have been trying to control things. In what ways do you need to give God control over those areas?
5. What is something that used to bring you joy or comfort but doesn’t anymore? What can you practically do to trust God with that “dry place”?
6. God uses dry places to lead us to our next assignment. With that perspective in mind, is there a place in your life God may be using to move you in a new direction?
7. Pastor Steven reminds us that while we are waiting on a word from God, He has already given us words to reflect on. What is the last word you received from God, either from a verse, song, or sermon, that you still need to act on?
8. Read Matthew 6:34. Name something you need to stop worrying about and give to God this week. How will you focus more on peace and joy this week instead of your worries?

Act On It

God has put enough in our “jugs” and “jars” to do our jobs. Spend time reflecting on the things that God has already spoken and revealed to you. What are those things? How can you continue to move on that word until God shows you what’s next?

Prayer

Father, thank You for guiding our steps. Help us to lean on You when we are worried about the dry places in our lives. Remind us that we have more than enough to do what You’ve called us to. Give us the grace to manage the tough times so we can testify of Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
