God Chose Me
Charles Metcalf
Sermon Highlights
We all have confessions that we believe every day.
We all carry beliefs about ourselves that can keep us from being who God wants us to be.
The worst thing we can do is forget where God has brought us from.
A belief and confession that has the power to radically transform your life: God chose me.
God placed you where you are for a reason; it's not an accident.
If you don't allow God to be with you and keep you in challenging situations, you may never discover what's truly inside you.
The fact that you made a mistake doesn’t disqualify you from the fact that He chose you.
Daring to believe God chose you keeps you ready, ridiculous, and reverent.
When you know God chose you and empowers you for every moment, you’re ready to stand in any situation.
What truly keeps you ready is knowing God – not your hard work or good plans – put you here; your trust is in Him alone.

Sermon Discussion
Conversation Starter
Pastor Charles mentioned "family confessions" – things you heard so often growing up that they became part of your family's identity. What's a funny or quirky "confession," or tradition with friends or family, that you grew up with that’s stuck with you?
Discussion Questions
“We all have confessions that we believe every day.” What’s one confession or belief about yourself that might be limiting you, and what’s one that truly empowers you? How could you focus more on the empowering confession – the one that reveals the way God truly sees you?
“Daring to believe God chose you keeps you ready, ridiculous, and reverent.” Believing that God chose you, which of these three qualities (ready, ridiculous, reverent) resonates with you the most, and why?
Additional Questions
“The worst thing we can do is forget where God has brought us from.” What's one thing you can celebrate today that God's brought you through? How can you be more intentional in remembering this when you feel discouraged?
“God placed you where you are for a reason; it's not an accident.” Think of a challenge you’re facing right now. How can remembering that God placed you there for a reason change how you approach it?
Prayer Prompt
Ask this question to your eGroup and include it as part of your closing prayer:
Pastor Charles said, "When you know God chose you and empowers you for every moment, you’re ready to stand in any situation."
Ask your eGroup: What challenge are you facing this week where you need to remember this truth – that God has chosen and empowered you to stand firm?
Thank God that He sees, chooses, and empowers each person for every moment of their lives. Pray for courage for each person to stand firm, trusting in God’s empowerment, not their own strength. Ask God to reveal and free them from any fear or doubt that holds them back. Pray that God’s presence would strengthen and fill them with confidence and peace.
