What was your main takeaway from the sermon?
Sermon Discussion
Select 1-2 themes from the sermon to discuss with your eGroup.
God is a giver, but we can often miss His gifts because they don’t come how we expect. “God answers our prayers in “seed” form to stretch our faith.” The seeds God answers our prayers with can be ideas, instructions, or commands God has given us.
Share a gift in your life that you have been able to see grow overtime.
How does knowing God answers our prayers in “seed” form stretch our faith?
What ideas, instructions, or commands has God given you that you may have previously overlooked? What steps can you take this week to take action on these?
Read Matthew 25:20-21. We need to steward what God has entrusted us with in order to see its full potential. We need to make decisions based on the vision and dreams God has given us. “You have to start making decisions NOW for what you want MOST.”
How can what you want NOW differ from what you want MOST?
Share one thing that you want most that can be attained by decisions you can make today.
What would stewarding this look like in the next couple of weeks? What can you do to help make decisions based on faith, hope, and the dreams God has given you?
How could your eGroup help support you in taking these steps?
Read Zechariah 4:10. Sometimes what we have can seem small, and it can feel like we don’t have enough. But Pastor Chavez reminded us that when we sow what God has already given us, we allow God the opportunity to multiply it.
Share with the group an example of when you’ve sown something small and you’ve seen it multiply.
What might come from the multiplication of the small thing God has already given to you? How can you see God using this in the future if you continue to sow into it?
How have you been inviting God into your growth process and what work do you need to do to keep moving forward?
Activating Faith
Challenge your group to keep activating their faith. Make this a part of your eGroup time or send this activity to them after you meet.A.W. Tozer said, “what comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” This week, take some time to write down a list of what comes to mind when you think about God. Be honest with yourself and identify things you know and believe from the Bible as well as anything else that comes to mind. You can even write down Bible verses that support your beliefs.Example:
God is good. (Psalm 25:8-9)
God is love, and He loves me. (John 3:16)
God is generous. (John 3:16; Ephesians 1:7-8)
God is always with me. (Romans 8:35-39)
If you find something on your list that seems inconsistent or unexpected, take some time to talk with God about it. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you and to help you develop beliefs about God that are true. Share your list with your eGroup and add items you may have forgotten from the lists they share.
Prayer
Close out your group with prayer using one of these options
God, thank you for your generous love. You are good, and you care for each one of us. Thank you for trusting each of us with something small. Help us to see the gifts you have given us through your eyes. As we commit to sowing the seeds you’ve given, multiply them in ways that bring you honor and glory. We want to use what you’ve given us to grow your kingdom. In the moments when we struggle and don’t know if we can continue, be our strength and help us to persevere. Thank you in advance for the abundant harvest that will come from your blessing. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
