The Other Hand
Pastor Steven Furtick
Conversation Starters
What are you most excited about for LOVE Week? What event have you signed up for? (If you haven’t signed up as a group, look for opportunities to do that during your group meeting.)
Are you right-handed or left-handed? What’s the last thing you’d want to try to do with your other hand? (Throw a ball, comb/brush your hair/teeth, etc.)
One of Pastor Steven’s most memorable moments as a kid was getting pulled onstage at a concert. What’s the most memorable moment of your childhood?
Review
Ask eGroup members to share their favorite points from the sermon, what spoke to them, a phrase or moment from the sermon they related to the most, or questions they have. If members have a hard time recalling the sermon, talk through your notes and share your favorite points.
Make It Personal
Do you believe God has His hand on your life? Does the way you think and act support that?
Read Exodus 3:18-21. How are you grateful for God’s hand? What things has He provided or taken from you that you’re most grateful for? (Have you ever experienced God’s hand keeping you from doing something?)
Talk about what it means to “humble yourself under God’s mighty hand.” Where in your life is it easy/difficult for you to do that?
Read Matthew 12:9-13. Jesus wants the hand you try to hide — the other hand — and to bring restoration to your life. What stops you from stretching out your “other hand”?
We all have a good hand, too. What are some ways you compensate for your other hand? How does your good hand keep you from addressing your other hand?
Go deeper. How have you let your other hand define who you are? What are some practical ways we can stretch out our other hand to God?
Moses had to release what was familiar before God could use him. What are you holding on to so tight that you need to let go of? (What do you need to confess to God?) Talk about what it would look like to release it.
“We’re all standing at a distance from what God called us to do.” What step do you need to take toward restoration?
Act On It
This week, stretch out your other hand to God. Take some time to reflect and identify the thing you need to offer up to Him, then do it, and let Him heal you and use you how He wants.
Prayer Requests And Prayer
Ask eGroup members to share any prayer requests they have. Record any notes or prayer requests to pray for members during the week.
Father, we’re so grateful for Your hand and how You always use it for our good. We need Your restoration on our other hand — help us lift that hand to You this week so You can heal us and use us how You want. In Jesus’ name, amen.
