Mindset #2: Christ is in me. I am enough.
Action Step: Accept your Self.
Read Do the True You chapters 6-9 before your group meeting.
Watch the video: Encourage students to take notes on what stands out to them and what they want to remember.

What’s On Your Mind?

If you could instantly be amazing at one thing (no practice required), what would it be? Would you still pick that skill if no one knew you had it?

Shift Your Mindset

Review the following mindsets with your group before jumping into this week’s discussion:

Mindset 1: I’m not stuck unless I stop. (Action: Commit to progress.)

  • When you hear the phrase “I am enough,” what does that mean to you? Do you actually believe it?

    • Where do you feel pressure to prove yourself the most right now? ( e.g., school, sports, social media, relationships, future plans, etc.) Why?

    • Read John 14:19-20 and John 15:5. Jesus suggests that by being in Him, we are “enough.” How do His words help you?

  • What’s the difference between real confidence and “fake it till you make it”? How do those look different in real life?

  • Comparison is loud in high school. Where does it show up the most in your life?

    • What does comparison usually make you feel? (e.g., motivated, insecure, jealous, pressured, etc.) Why?

  • What do you need to do in order to believe you’re enough because Christ is in you? (e.g., study your Bible more, stop comparing yourself to others, ask God to help you see yourself how He does, etc.)

Pray: God, thank You that our worth doesn’t come from performance, popularity, or perfection. Thank You that because You live in us, we don’t have to chase approval. Help us stop pretending and start living from who You say we are. When comparison gets loud, remind us we’re already secure in You. Teach us to walk in the confidence that comes from grace instead of focusing on the pressure. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Go Further

  • "Do you want to avoid tricks? Learn how valuable you really are so you don't settle for less than you were created to be. Hang out with people who will remind you of your true worth and reflect it back to you. Spend time learning what God says about you in the Bible." (pg. 72) How does this thought challenge you? Does it challenge where or who you spend your time with?

  • Read Galatians 1:10. What would change in your daily decisions if you cared less about the approval of people? What would change about the way you accept your Self?

  • What does identity mean? Read Galatians 2:20. How can not knowing our identity in Christ cause us to believe lies about who we are?

  • Where in your life do you feel like you’re not enough? Is there a part of yourself — your personality, your background, a weakness — that you tend to hide or downplay?

    • If “Christ is in me. I am enough.” is true, what would it look like to stop hiding that thing you hide and trust that God can use it?

  • How does knowing you’re already accepted change the way you think about your future?

WEEKLY CHALLENGE: Go and DO the True You

"'Enough' is not a state you will eventually reach—it is a gift you have already been given." (pg. 66)

This week, pay attention to when you feel pressure to prove yourself. When that moment hits, pause and say: “Christ is in me. I am enough.”

Then choose one action:

  • Stop comparing, and thank God for one specific way He made you.

  • Pray about an area where you feel weak instead of hiding it.

  • Refuse to put someone else down to make yourself feel better.

  • Show up as your real self instead of your “edited” version.

  • Take one step of obedience without needing to see others’ approval first.

The goal isn’t to become more impressive. It’s to live like you’re already accepted!
