Middle School Week 4 (February 25): Rewiring Your Rhythms

Discussion Goal:

Worship is seeing God in everything I do.

Start Talking (Conversation Starter):

What’s something you notice that most people probably don’t? (e.g., details in a room, people’s moods, small changes, sounds, colors, patterns, etc.)

Optional Activity: Spot the Difference

Have everyone look around the room (or at their screen) for 30 seconds. Then say, “Close your eyes,” and ask a few questions about what they remember seeing:

  • What color shoes is someone near you wearing?

  • What’s one object in the room you didn’t notice at first?

  • Who is sitting closest to you?

  • What’s on the wall behind you?

Watch the Video

Encourage students to take notes on what stands out to them and what they want to remember.

Think It Through (and Talk It Out)

  • Pastor Holly and Bryce talked about feeling God’s presence sometimes but not always. Part of feeling God’s presence is learning how to bring God into the moment. Feelings change, but God doesn’t. Why do you think our faith — and our worship — can’t be based only on feelings?

  • Bryce shared how memorizing scripture helped him fight lies and stay grounded. Why do you think having God’s Word in your heart matters when life feels confusing or overwhelming? How can that help you worship?

    • ⬆️ LEADER TIP: This week, encourage your students to memorize Romans 12 as a weapon of praise and thanksgiving.

  • Pastor Holly said worship can start with a simple prayer: “Lord, I want to see You.” What’s one place this week — school, home, practice, online, etc. — where you want to start praying that prayer?

Pray: God, help us see You in our everyday lives — at school, at home, and everywhere we go. Open our eyes and hearts to notice You and respond with worship in all that we do. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
