Series Verses:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.” (Psalms 1:1-3)

“You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.” (Deuteronomy 14:2, NLT)

Discussion Goal: To use your faith to help you see.

Start Talking (Conversation Starter)

If you could wear glasses that would let you see in a special way — like seeing really far away, night vision, or seeing through walls — what would you pick and why?

Think It Through (and Talk It Out)

Leader Tip: Choose questions that resonate with your group’s age, experiences, and current understanding. There’s no pressure to cover all the questions — pick the ones that fit your group the best.

  • Read 2 Corinthians 4:18. What does it mean to “fix our eyes on what is unseen”? How can we focus on God when everything around us demands our attention?

  • Read 2 Kings 6:8-17. Instead of reacting in fear, Elisha prayed. How can prayer change our perspective in difficult situations?

  • Have you ever been in a situation where you felt completely stuck or surrounded, only to later realize how God was working behind the scenes? What can situations like that teach us about God and the importance of “seeing by faith”?

Pray: God, help us fix our eyes on You, even when life feels distracting, uncertain, or overwhelming. Teach us to use our faith to see the unseen ways You are working, and help us in the waiting. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Additional Questions

  • Psalms 27:13-14 tells us to wait on the Lord. How can faith help us stay hopeful while we wait?

  • Read 2 Corinthians 5:7. What does it mean to “live by faith, not by sight”? What happens if we do the opposite?

  • In Numbers 13:27-33, the spies all saw the same land, but they had very different reports. What made Joshua and Caleb’s perspective different from the others? How can fear distort our understanding of faith? What can you do differently the next time you feel fear messing with your perspective?
