Series Overview – I Need A Moment

A moment with Jesus can change anything.

Our hearts. Our minds. Our health, our choices, our future… Nothing is off the table when it comes to what He can change in an instant. 

There are many stories in the Bible showing people who experienced such shifts. Over the next two weeks, we’re going to explore two of those stories to see what Jesus did — and how the people He touched were changed after their encounter with Him.

Series Verses:

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)


Discussion Goal: Jesus opens our eyes to truth.

Start Talking (Conversation Starter)

What’s one moment that changed how you saw something or someone? (e.g., maybe it was after watching a movie, hearing someone’s story, realizing you were wrong about someone, etc.)

Think It Through (and Talk It Out)

Leader Tip: Choose questions that resonate with your group’s age, experiences, and current understanding. There’s no pressure to cover all the questions — pick the ones that fit your group the best. 

  • Read John 4:4-26. Why do you think Jesus started the conversation by asking the woman for a drink? (Hint: Look at her response and what He goes on to tell her after that.) What does this say about how He meets us where we are — even in the middle of ordinary moments?

  • The women thought Jesus was just a stranger — then a prophet — then realized He was the Messiah. What helped open her eyes to who He really was? What are some examples for us or other teenagers for how Jesus can open our eyes to truth?

  • John 4:28 says the woman left her jar and ran to tell others about Jesus. One moment with Him had changed everything for her. How do you think a moment with Jesus could change the way you see your past — not erase it, but give it new purpose?

Pray: Jesus, thank You for meeting us where we are to show us truth. Help us look to You when we’re confused or thinking about something the wrong way so You can guide us to something better, and let what You show us cause a response in us that honors You. In Your name, amen.

Additional Questions

  • Have you ever felt like something you’ve done might keep Jesus from wanting anything to do with you? What would it take to understand that’s not true?

  • Jesus didn’t shame the Samaritan woman — He gave her truth, and it changed her. How does truth from Jesus feel different than judgment from people?

  • Jesus already knows your whole story and still chooses you. How does that change the way you see yourself and what you’re capable of?
