You can change one school rule, and EVERYONE has to follow it. What change would you make?

Think It Through (and Talk It Out)

Leader Tip: Choose questions that resonate with your group’s age, experiences, and current understanding. There’s no pressure to cover all the questions — pick the ones that fit your group the best. 

  • What does it mean that, in a moment, Jesus can change what we choose to do? What kinds of things can He change about us and what we choose to do?

  • Read Luke 19:1-10. Does Zacchaeus’ response surprise you? Why do you think he responded so quickly and in such a big way?

  • What’s an area of your life where you want to invite Jesus to help you make different choices? How can our group help support you?

Pray: Jesus, thank You for seeing us in the crowd like you did Zacchaeus. Please give us the strength and desire to make choices that honor You — help us be bold like Zacchaeus and walk in the change You bring to our hearts. In Your name we pray, amen.

  • Read Ezekiel 36:26. What is this verse saying? How can a “new heart” or a “heart of flesh” affect what we choose to do? 

  • Now read Philippians 1:6. We’re all works in progress. How does this verse give you hope or confidence about where you are now? What “good works” do you think Jesus has begun or is beginning in you?

  • In Luke 19, Zacchaeus didn’t just receive what Jesus said — he took bold action with it. What’s one bold action you can take this week to live out what Jesus has been teaching you lately?
