Middle School Leader Overview: Saved & Sent
Catalog Overview:
When students know who Jesus really is, they’ll understand who they really are — and realize they’re called to show the world what He’s done.
How to Lead Your Group:
This series is designed to help students engage in scripture for themselves. They will be reading through the book of John on their own, and then during group time, you will read specific passages again to talk about them.
You’ll serve as a guide helping them process and learn as they notice things for themselves, question what they mean, and challenge themselves to apply what they read. A big part of this will be encouraging honest reflection and giving them space for discussion.
As you listen, look for ways to connect their insights back to the week’s discussion goal. This will give them a framework for how they can pull lessons out of the text that can help them make positive changes in their lives and perspectives.
The goal isn’t just good discussion but to help students see how each passage connects to the bigger truth of the week. Celebrate their discoveries with them, and encourage them to keep digging deeper!
Some Pro Tips:
Encourage them to write while they read, either marking things in their Bibles or taking notes in a separate journal.
What scripture did they read?
What were the main points?
What stood out to them?
What doesn’t make sense or what do they need more context for?
How can they apply the passage to their own life?
The SOAP method is on the Bible insert they received and can help guide them in writing these things down.
Help them see how the way they read and take notes can lead to a much more engaging and helpful discussion later.
