High School Experience #1
Discussion Goal: Moments with God are meant to lead to lasting change, not just a feeling. Only Jesus can truly satisfy our longing for more.
Start Talking (Conversation Starter)
What’s….
a moment recently that made you laugh out loud?
your most embarrassing moment you’re willing to share?
one moment you would relive from the past month if you could?
Since Pastor Tori admitted to being a procrastinator, what’s your go-to distraction when you’re putting things off?
Be honest — how many of you packed your bag for campus like 10 minutes before you had to leave… even though you meant to do it the night before but got lost scrolling on TikTok or Instagram?
Review
Ask youth to share their favorite points from the sermon, what spoke to them, a phrase or moment from the sermon they related to the most, or questions they have. If youth have a hard time recalling the sermon, talk through your notes and share your favorite points.
Think It Through (and Talk It Out)
Leader Tip: The goal of discussion is to have youth talk about God, ask and wrestle with questions, and grow and own their faith. Below are three questions to get the group talking. Use additional questions as time allows.
Tori shared that there’s more to a moment. Where do you think that feeling of “there has to be more” comes from? Where do you see that desire for something deeper show up in your own life?
Read Mark 5:24-34. What stands out to you about the woman’s faith and how Jesus responds? How can this moment with Jesus help us understand what it means to be truly known and filled?
Tori said, “Jesus is here — not just for a feeling, but to fill the empty spaces of your heart.” What would it look like for you to step into a moment with God this week?
What’s one area you need Him to meet you in?
Pray It Out
Dear God, thank You for meeting us here — not just for a moment, but to fill the empty spaces in our hearts. Help us to trust You like the woman in Mark 5, reaching for more of You and believing You can change everything. Let this be more than a moment — let it be the start of something new. In Jesus name, amen.
