Discussion Goal: To lean on the Holy Spirit’s power to turn the “moments” from YTHX into a movement.

Start Talking (Conversation Starter)

  • What was your highlight moment from YTHX25?

  • Pastor Tori said a person’s last words are important. Tell the group a phrase you’d want to be remembered for.

  • We talked a little bit about the Fruit of the Spirit during the message. If you could only eat one fruit for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Think It Through (and Talk It Out)

Leader Tip: Choose questions that resonate with your group’s age, experiences, and current understanding. There’s no pressure to cover all the questions — pick the ones that fit your group the best.

  • Read Acts 1:4-8. What does this verse tell us about the Holy Spirit? What have you heard about the Holy Spirit before now — what is His role in our faith?

  • Where do you most need to take the Holy Spirit with you? (e.g., school, home, friendships, etc.) Why?

  • Read Galatians 6:22-23. These verses tell us all of the things that our lives produce when we are guided by the Holy Spirit. Which of these fruits do you want to focus on producing in your life more when you go home this week? Why?

  • Pastor Tori challenged us to not just leave YTHX having had a moment, but to turn the moment into a movement that makes a lasting difference in our lives. What’s the difference between an encounter with God being a moment or a movement in your life? Break up into pairs and talk about at least one step you need to take after YTHX to turn the moment into a movement.

Pray It Out

Dear God, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to give us power. We need that power to help us live the way You want us to. Holy Spirit, fill us so that when we get home from YTHX, Your power helps us start a movement in our hearts and everywhere we go. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Additional Questions

  • The Holy Spirit will convict us when there’s something we need to do differently. What’s the difference between conviction and something like shame or guilt? Why does the Holy Spirit give us conviction?

  • Read Ephesians 6:10-17. Which piece of armor would you say you’re best at using? Which do you need the most, and what would it look like to get better at using it?

  • “I breathe you in, Holy Spirit. Your strength comes suddenly, and your peace fills me completely.” One way we can be empowered by the Holy Spirit is by saying this prayer daily. When are some times or where are some places this prayer could help you? When can you commit to saying this prayer every day so that it becomes a daily practice? (e.g., on the way to school, while brushing your teeth before bed, before practice, etc.)
